The purpose of the WLMHA Volunteer Bond Program is to encourage all association members to become actively involved in the operation and success of the association.




WLMHA has a membership of approximately 230 players, assigned to over 12 teams that play almost 300 scheduled games. Many of our members are unaware of just how much volunteer work and fundraising is necessary to operate a quality hockey program.

WLMHA is run completely by volunteers. We have no paid positions.


Although not everyone has the hockey experience or skills to assist as an on-ice volunteer, there are many other roles that contribute greatly to the success of our association. Examples of these opportunities include, organizing tournaments, score keeping,

snack bar help, special committees/projects, fundraising and many other events that the WLMHA requires volunteers for. The Volunteer Bond Program has been introduced to encourage our association members to step forward and get involved.


Every family with a registered player in WLMHA must provide payment in the form of a $200 cheque before your child(ren) will be allowed to begin the 2018/2019 season. The cheque must be postdated for April 30, 2019
You are required to provide one cheque per family, not per player.


Hockey School families are required to provide a cheque for $100 if they have only one child registered.




Commitment will be calculated by a point system of 8 points per family.  Hockey School families will require 4 points if they have no other children registered.  Approximately 1 hour volunteer time will equal 1 point (see table below for details). In the event that 8 points  (4 points for Hockey School) are not achieved by the end of the season, your cheque will be cashed.

Midget aged players will be allowed to volunteer toward their family’s required points (with executive approval).

All completed points will be tracked and recorded by the WLMHA VP – Volunteer Coordinator.


It is not the goal of the association to use the Volunteer Bond as a revenue generator; it is the goal of the Association to encourage members to be involved in their child's hockey experience. All money received by the association from the Volunteer Bond will be

used in day to day operations of the WLMHA.
